I am a Professor at the University of Warwick where my role is to lead on student employability skills across the institution. Previously I was at Birkbeck, University of London where I was Head of the Organizational Psychology Department and before this I was at Aston University. I have had many many other jobs including being a soldier, running a market stall and working in sales.

I found studying for my degree to be really tough because it took me ages to work out what the rules of the game were. I am on a mission to help others figure these rules far earlier than I did and with a lot less stress. I also want to share ideas about how students can find ways to accumulate interesting experiences along the way that will smooth the transition into their chosen career on graduation.

I work with individuals and teams in all kinds of workplaces – from the armed forces and emergency services to business, finance, manufacturing and government. I am also intrigued by technology and have created an app that enables students to learn together using their phones (more information about this project here).
